 Offshore Achievement Awards 2020 Nomination

We are proud to be shortlisted for the ‘Emerging Technology’ award at the 2020 Offshore Achievement Awards.

The award is in recognition of our Casing Cement Breaker (CCB), a first of its kind technology that deals with problem cement behind casing, which hinders conventional methods for plugging and abandonment, and slot recovery.

The hydromechanical tool works using pressure and rotation to manipulate the existing casing in the well, within its elastic limits, breaking down the bond between cement and casing, as well as the structure of the cement behind the casing.

Following a successful offshore trial with Equinor last year, we have proven the tool reduces the force needed to remove cement casing by around 50% on the first trial, with future testing expected to achieve a 90% reduction.

As well as allowing longer sections to be pulled with less force, the CCB also means fewer trips and fewer cuts, resulting in less rig time. For operators, this means significant time and cost savings.

Commenting on the nomination, David Stephenson, CEO of Deep Casing Tools, said: “It is fantastic to have our pioneering technology recognised at the Offshore Achievement Awards, which are long-standing, prestigious awards.

“The nomination is testament to the team’s hard work, and our commitment to making technological strides that help make the industry safer, more efficient and sustainable.

“We are looking forward to the awards ceremony and would like to take the opportunity to congratulate the other finalists.”

The Offshore Achievement Awards is the most well-established oil, gas and renewables industry awards for the UK offshore energy sector, celebrating and encouraging innovation and collaboration. The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony taking place at P&J Live in Aberdeen on 19th March 2020.
